Meet the Crew: 2ndLt Ko Feiyan
The primary dropship pilot for Echo Company, Ko deploys and retrieves fireteams to space or ground destinations with curt efficiency.
Rank: Second Lieutenant (O-1)
MOS: 7532 Dropship Pilot
Date of Birth: January 7, 2179
Place of Birth: Heyuan, China
Service Record
Ko enlisted at the Manila Embassy Recruiting Station in the Philippines. She completed her Primary Flight Training at NAS Punta Arenas, Chile, where she was noted for taking training aircraft to the limits of their performance profile.
Afterwards, she transferred to Armstrong ASFB, Sea of Tranquility, for specialization in Aerospace Interceptors. She graduated at the top of her class.
For her first tour of duty, she was assigned to VMF-212 “Hell Hounds,” aboard the System Control Ship UAS Midway. Serving on the Outer Rim, her unit participated in the “quarantine” of insurgent forces at Nîtisân (HD 136418 b3) in 2199.
She served with distinction, downing five OPFOR craft in six weeks of operations, including a pair of modern HJ-77 “Fēishā” space superiority fighters sold to the insurgents by the Union of Progressive Peoples. Unfortunately, she was severely injured by an insurgent ASAT missile after being lured into ambush by a false distress call.
As part of her rehabilitation, she was provided a cybernetic replacement leg. She modified this with cable jacks that allow the nerves in her leg to directly interface with a dropship's flight computer, allowing her to input a limited set of commands at the "speed of thought."
Esther's Observations
Lieutenant Ko’s family is one of the hundred richest in China, a member-state of the Union of Progressive Peoples. She declines to discuss personal matters, but no attempt at contact has been noted by either side.
In her youth, she studied gymnastics, to which she credits her excellent spatial sense and balance.
She has had difficulty integrating with her squadron. Ko holds herself to extremely high standards, and expects the same performance from others. She is a habitual pessimist, with little patience with small talk or casual conversation. Though few like her, she is universally respected.
While she unquestionably remains a skilled pilot, Ko was reassigned to a transport squadron because the severity of her injuries are considered a liability in dogfighting. She is eager for an opportunity to disprove this assessment.
